Making a pleated circle skirt

50s skirt patternPleated circle skirts are pretty AND comfortable. However, I cannot afford the skirt that I love so much (see previous post) so I am going to attempt to make one.

Here’s how …

Option A:
I could use this pattern which I already own by Simplicity

OR

Option B:
I could follow the advice of my sister (a tech designer who’s worked in the fashion industry for over 10 years) and make one with out a pattern. This style of skirt is merely a pleated skirt sewn into a waist band with an invisible zipper. Here’s how:

Easy tutorial (no pattern needed!!)
Make your own Pleater Board (wow!)

So fantastic! Now I need to go fabric shopping …

I wet-felted this strawberry as the example for a class I was teaching with some friends but it was so packed that we didn’t get to show our students how to make it.  That’s ok…there’s always next time :)
